University of Indianapolis Faculty-Led Program in Morocco – Spring 2025

Road to Morocco

This immersive experience provides students with the opportunity to explore the vibrant culture, rich history, and stunning landscapes of Morocco while earning academic credit. This program is offered through a partnership between the University of Indianapolis and MOBT Global.

Program Overview

  • Program Title: Road to Morocco
  • Location: The Kingdom of Morocco
  • Dates: May 7th – 18th (12 days)
  • Academic Focus: This program focuses on immersing students in Moroccan culture and traditions, developing linguistic and intercultural sensitivity for French and Arabic speakers, understanding the history of colonialism and its influence on local development, and examining the ongoing impact of globalization. 
  • Program Highlights: Hassan II mosque, UNESCO World Heritage sites, Roman ruins, ancient markets, camel ride, Mediterranean coast and Rif mountains. 
  • Credits: 3 credit hour Spring Term course. (Covers Gen Ed Requirement for Experiencing Cultural Differences)

Morocco is a country of diverse landscapes, from the bustling markets of Marrakech to the serene dunes of the Sahara Desert. Its rich history is reflected in its ancient medinas, palaces, and mosques, while the warmth and hospitality of its people offer a true cultural immersion. As a gateway between Europe and Africa, Morocco’s unique blend of Berber, Arab, and French influences makes it an ideal destination for learning and exploration.

Highlights of Morocco include:

  • Cultural Experiences: Explore traditional souks, Moroccan cuisine, and ancient architecture.
  • Natural Wonders: Visit the Atlas Mountains, Sahara Desert, and stunning coastlines.
  • Historical Sites: Discover UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the medina of Fez and the Roman ruins of Volubilis.

No, language proficiency is not required. The entire program will be conducted in English.

Will I have free time to explore on my own during the program?

The program includes many activities throughout the day, but there will be some free time for personal exploration. MOBT Global staff can offer recommendations and assistance.

Will there be wi-fi or cell phone coverage?

wi-fi & cell service

Wi-Fi is available at all accommodations and many local businesses. Cell service is widespread, especially in populated areas.
